Who Got CON, Who Didn't?

Virtual visits will be the norm at the state’s newest VA Medical Center. Leaders from the Veterans Health Administration National Simulation Center in Medical City are about to accept bids for the $20.3 million center, according the Orlando Business Journal. The center is being designed to serve veterans via online portals.

Meanwhile, the Agency for Health Care of Administration granted UF Health Jacksonville a certificate of need for a new 92-bed hospital in Jacksonville, the Florida Times-Union reported. Competing Memorial Hospital is expected to appeal the new facility to be operated by the University of Florida.

Another teaching hospital lost its bid to open a 100-bed facility in Broward County, the South Florida Business Journal reports. AHCA denied the collaboration between Nova Southeastern University and HCA East. Hospital officials plan to challenge Friday’s decision
