A man running a Winter Garden pain clinic intimidated a doctor on his payroll so intensely she prescribed powerful narcotics as she herself was being treated at a hospital, she told investigators.
As the Orlando Sentinel reports, physician Rica Bogdany says she signed prescriptions for patients without seeing them numerous times, and investigators say more than 10,000 pills were illegally sold by the Pain Care Place of Central Florida. The owner of the clinic, Vincent Goodwin, was arrested in a raid and charged with racketeering, the Sentinel reports.
In a separate case, deputies have arrested a man who accused of offering stem cell injection procedures while purporting to be a sports medicine doctor, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office sent an undercover agent to follow up on Florida Department of Health complaints that Jon Rubenstein was practicing medicine without a license.
Meanwhile, in Panama City, a former state crime lab chemist accused of swapping drugs from evidence bags with over-the-counter medicine is facing additional charges of drug trafficking, the Associated Press reports.
