HCA Seeks to Build Teaching Hospital

Florida's second-largest county could get a new teaching hospital as the result of a collaboration between Nova Southeastern University and HCA, the  nation's largest hospital chain.

As the South Florida Sun-Sentinelreports, NSU and HCA said Monday they want to build a $120 million hospital on the campus in Davie. NSU has an osteopathic medical school.

While it waits for a certificate-of-need decision from the state, HCA said it will go ahead and build an emergency room on the campus. Free-standing ER's don't require a certificate.
