When Laura Grossman died of lung cancer in 1995, the 38-year-old had smoked for more than half her life, having gotten hooked at 15.  On Wednesday, a Broward jury said R.J. Reynolds should pay $37.5 million in damages, according to the Orlando Sentinel.  The tobacco company is expected to appeal.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
