Medicaid Fraud Veto Bothers GOP Lawmaker

While many didn’t notice Gov. Rick Scott’s line item veto of funding to investigate Medicaid fraud, the chairman of the Criminal & Civil Justice Appropriations Subcommittee certainly did.

As the Times/Herald Tallahassee Bureau reports, state Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, called the veto of $1.5 million for Florida’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit “disappointing.” Approving the bill would have triggered $4.5 million match from the federal government, the Times/Herald reports. Scott’s office gave no reason why he vetoed the item.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
