Halifax to Settle Whistle-Blower Suit

 The Halifax Health Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Monday to end the final part of a five-year-long  whistle-blower lawsuit that will cost the public hospital more than $110 million, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal

The remaining claims amount to $1 million, plus another $4.5 million to cover the legal fees for whistle-blower Elin Baklid-Kunz. The hospital also paid $85 million in a settlement in March, related to Baklid-Kunz’s claims regarding Medicare billing and physician contracts, the News Journal reports.
