Gov. Rick Scott hasn’t responded to a bipartisan congressional inquiry regarding the future of the Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, according to the Miami Herald.

Congressional leaders asked for the input of governors from all 50 states in order to decide whether or not to continue funding the program, which currently covers more than 8 million children and families nationwide, including about 400,000 in Florida, the Herald reports. Should Congress decide not to reauthorize funding for CHIP, Florida could lose up to $560 million in federal funds, according to the Herald.
