Health care companies struggling to do business in Florida led the most talked-about news of 2015 here at Health News Florida.

Florida-based home-health companies, major national insurers, even private prison health providers all announced moves that directly affected consumers, taxpayers and state government agencies. Add to that a long list of ongoing political battles – and a little offbeat medical news – and you have our annual top news from 2015 rundown.

Know that Health News Florida reporters in Miami, Tampa and Orlando will be paying attention as many of these important topics continue well into 2016. Whether it’s checking on lawmakers in Tallahassee, or talking with people directly affected by their policy decisions in your community, we’ll be paying attention.

We’ll be taking a few days off here at the end of the year, and want to thank all of you for supporting Health News Florida. Until we return on Jan. 4, enjoy updates from our partners at NPR and Kaiser Health News, and enjoy this look back at the top stories of 2015:
