Munroe Regional Medical Center has notified Florida hospital officials it is ending its effort to build a trauma center, the Ocala Star-Banner reports. Munroe Regional’s president and CEO Bob Moore said the hospital’s application likely wouldn’t have been approved, as Ocala Regional Medical Center has a Level II trauma center located right across the street. According to the Star-Banner, the hospital will instead focus on improving its emergency department, other hospital areas and satellite facilities.
