A bill that would redesign the state group health insurance plan is being heard Thursday morning in the House Health Care Services Committee. As Christine Jordan Sexton of SaintPetersBlog reports, PCB HHSC 15-02 would give employees access to a variety of plans, and would set "premiums that reflect the differences in benefit design and value between HMOs and PPOs."

The changes would be phased in, and eventually, state employees would have access to different "metal" levels of coverage, much like what's available on the federal health insurance marketplace at HealthCare.gov, SaintPetersBlog reports.
