Tampa General Hospital and Florida Hospital's network in Tampa Bay announced Tuesday that they plan to work together on some programs and services, as the Tampa Bay Business Journalreports. No specifics were offered, but the announcement is in line with the trend toward consolidation in the hospital field. TGH spokesman John Dunn said the two big hospital systems have no intention of merging.
Meanwhile, as the Tampa Tribune reports, Tampa General and the University of South Florida announced they had reached agreement for renewal on a three-year contract for TGH to remain the principal teaching hospital for USF's medical school, which operates under the brand name USF Health. The contract offers stability after several years of tension that had threatened the long-standing partnership.
