A Jacksonville VA Outpatient Center canceled nearly 60,000 appointments from January 1, 2014 through March 1, 2015, according to a review of federal data obtained by the Florida Times-Union through a Freedom of Information Act request. The Jacksonville clinic is among the worst VA clinics in the country for wait times, the Times-Union reports. The VA’s reasons for canceled appointments included changes in providers, associated appointments such as lab, X-ray and providers sick or on leave, according to the Times-Union

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
