The U.S. Department of Education reports there were more sexual assaults reported at the University of Florida than at any other Florida college, the Gainesville Sun reports. At private schools, the highest number of sexual assaults reported was at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, with 15.
Any college or university that receives federal financial aid is required to report reports of sexual assaults over a three-year period. UF officials told the Sun its numbers are higher because it has increased awareness about its resources, such as an anonymous hotline and education events for students.
