After 26 reported cases and nine deaths in Florida this year from exposure to vibrio vulnificus, health officials advise against eating raw shellfish and exposing open wounds to seawater. The latest case was Henry “Butch” Konietzky, 59, of Palm Coast, who died a week ago after fishing in the Halifax River the Saturday before, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports (paywall alert).
