Jackson Health System and its unions reached agreement Tuesday, with management vowing to stop looking for ways to outsource staffing, The Miami Herald reports.

The huge public system also has stepped into a simmering dispute over trauma-center designation, which pits public and non-profit "safety net" hospitals against for-profit chains. Two of the Jackson hospitals joined the legal fight against the Department of Health's handling of trauma-center designation, News Service of Florida reports.

The Herald's report on the union agreement also discusses resolution of a class-action lawsuit brought on by last spring’s layoffs.
