Jackson Health System and its unions reached agreement Tuesday, with management vowing to stop looking for ways to outsource staffing,The Miami Heraldreports.

The huge public system also has stepped into a simmering dispute over trauma-center designation, which pits public and non-profit "safety net" hospitals against for-profit chains. Two of the Jackson hospitals joined the legal fight against the Department of Health's handling of trauma-center designation, News Service of Florida reports.

The Herald's report on the union agreement also discusses resolution of a class-action lawsuit brought on by last spring’s layoffs.
