Board of Governors to Vote on USF Medical School

The Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System, is set to vote on USF’s downtown medical school project when it meets today and Thursday, the Tampa Bay Times reports. USF needs the board to approve $62 million in state funding for the project, which is estimated to have a total cost of between $150 and $163 million. According to the Times, if the project wins both votes this week, it will move to the Florida Legislature for approval.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
