In her continuing investigation of bad charities, Kris Hundley of the Tampa Bay Times reports on Healing Heroes Network, operated by a Palm Harbor physician and his wife (paywall alert).
Dr. Allan Spiegel, who specializes in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, founded Healing Heroes and serves as president; his wife Stacey, is administrator and earned $110,000 last year.
According to the charity’s 2012 filing with the IRS, professional solicitors kept $1.1 million of the total income for last year of $1.7 million.
