An oral surgeon who reached a deal with the state Department of Health over allegations of sexual misconduct with three sedated teenage patients has left a group practice and will open a new solo office, the Pensacola News Journal reports. The Florida Board of Dentistry approved the settlement, which calls for Dr. David “Ty” Turbyfill to pay close to $15,000 in fines and always have another health professional present while he’s with patients.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
