3-D Tattoos Latest Tool in Breast Cancer

A woman who watched her 30-year-old sister and father die of breast cancer decided she’d do anything to prevent the same thing from happening to her, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. But that meant undergoing a double mastectomy.

She said that when she heals from her reconstructive surgery, she’s going to participate in a growing trend recommend by her plastic surgeon: getting a 3-D nipple tattoo, which looks more lifelike than a flat tattoo.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
