A roadside stretch break along Alligator Alley last weekend turned out to be a bad idea for a Boynton Beach lawyer wearing flip-flops.
Ryan Toogood stepped out of his car while driving back from a fishing trip to Naples with his girlfriend, and a water moccasin bit him on the big toe, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The lawyer ended up being taken by ambulance to a waiting helicopter, which flew him to Weston’s Cleveland Clinic. The Miami-Dade Venom Response Unit, which handles about 30 cases a year, was waiting for him.
