St. Petersburg officials have decided it would be a conflict of interest for neurosurgeon David McKalip, who is running for the city council, to treat city employees, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
McKalip, whose anti-government rhetoric has made him a popular speaker for Tea Party events, is finding a less receptive audience among council members he hopes to join. His refusal to certify that an injured firefighter qualified for long-term disability cost the patient $200,000 and caused the city to be sued.
