Fasano Calls Medicaid Vote a 'Cop-Out'

Some hospital officials expressed hope on Tuesday that the previous day's Senate committee vote against Medicaid expansion would turn out okay --  that Sen. Joe Negron really will come up with a "Florida Plan" for the uninsured that will bring in $51 billion in federal funds, as News Service of Florida reports.

But Rep. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, said he thinks the entire thing is just another delaying tactic by Florida Republican leaders who have long opposed the federal Affordable Care Act, Palm Beach Post reports.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
