Florida will have to extend health benefits to about 8,700 state employees who don’t now qualify because they are classified as temporary “OPS” – for “Other Personnel Services.” The House Select Committee on the Affordable Care Act came to that conclusion Thursday when members heard the federal penalty for not covering them would be far greater, News Service of Florida reports.
