Baptist Health will soon break ground on its Nassau Crossing Medical Campus in Yulee, and construction is underway on a primary care facility in St. Johns.

Some Nassau County parents are taking matters into their own hands when it comes to tracking the number of COVID-19 cases in their children’s classrooms.

In this rural stretch of northeast Florida, nearly 4,400 were vaccinated in the three-week period ending Aug. 12, enough to increase the county's total vaccinations by nearly 11%.

According to CDC data, Nassau County has the highest rate of cases per capita of any large metropolitan county in the nation, with Duval, Baker and Clay also among those with high rates.

Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties reported similar increases amid a drop in vaccination rates and increase in delta variant cases.
