Jeanne Marrazzo

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, a professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will lead NIH's infectious diseases institute. Colleagues say she has a wide breadth of knowledge and a joyful demeanor.

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo was appointed as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. She will oversee the agency’s $6.3 billion budget, its research and its response to disease outbreaks.
