State Drops Murder Charges Against Doctor

Charges of first-degree murder were dropped against a doctor this week after the state discovered that key parts of the law used to indict him for the overdose deaths of two patients didn’t exist at the time the deaths occurred, the Palm Beach Post reports. On Thursday, prosecutors instead charged Dr. John Christensen -- accused of operating a pill mill out of his A1A Health & Wellness Clinic in West Palm Beach --  with two counts of manslaughter.

In a separate case, Drs. Cynthia Cadet and Joseph Castronuovo, South Florida doctors also charged in connection with patient overdose deaths, face sentencing today for money laundering, the Palm Beach Post reports.
