Tampa Bay Times columnist John Romano writes that there are serious loopholes in the "stand your ground" law that enable bad guys like drug dealers and motorists consumed with road rage to use it in ways that its creators never intended -- they provoke a confrontation and then use deadly force.
So, even those who want to keep the self-defense idea behind the law should be willing to give it serious re-examination to plug its flaws, Romano says. That should include the governor, he says.
Meanwhile, theAssociated Press reports that there seems to be little chance that Republican-led states, including Florida, will repeal the law.
