Shake-up Hits FL Prison Health Co.

Oct 11, 2013

A state vendor contracted to provide health care to many of Florida’s prisoners abruptly dismissed two stop executives Wednesday.  The removal of Corizon CEO Rich Hallworth and President Stuart Campbell follows an announcement that Corizon’s parent company’s financial outlook has been downgraded, with the “increasing...likelihood of default,” according to the Broward Bulldog.  The online publication recently reported that Corizon has been sued for malpractice 550 times in the past five years.  Meanwhile, Wexford Health Sources, which provides health services to South Florida prisoners, saw more than 1,000 malpractice claims from Jan. 1, 2008 through 2012.
