Two new studies add to the evidence that Florida is making progress against deaths from inappropriate prescribing of opiates since the state cracked down two years ago. Part of the drop in fatalities followed the creation of a prescription drug database, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports, but another part can be traced to a ban on physicians dispensing controlled drugs from their offices.
