The City of Coral Springs may have to pay back nearly $430,000 in fire assessment fees it collected from the Coral Springs Medical Center, which is run by the North Broward Hospital District, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

The 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach last week upheld a lower court’s ruling that the fee is a tax, and governments cannot tax other governments, according to the Sun Sentinel

The Coral Springs City Commission is asking for a re-hearing, but its attorney warns the decision may not be reversed, the Sun Sentinel reports.
