At the Capitol: Trauma, Abortion, More

The Senate Appropriations Committee tacked on language to a bill to loosen regulations for approving new trauma centers, the the Miami Heraldreports. That's similar to a move a committee in the Florida House made earlier this week.

The House narrowly passed a bill that bans abortions based on race or gender, the Miami Heraldreports. The House also approved a bill that makes it a separate crime if a fetus is harmed if the mother is hurt or killed.

Meantime, as the Times/Herald Tallahassee Bureau reports, the House Health and Human Services Committee has approved amendments that provide special exemptions for The Villages to add nursing home beds and for Miami Children's Hospital to build a new labor and delivery unit.
