Broward Ponders $1.29M Insurance Incentive

Broward County Commissioners are considering a $1.29 million incentive package for an unnamed health insurance company wanting to hire 265 employees in Sunrise.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance has declined to identify the company, but clues point to Sunshine State Health plan, according to the South Florida Business Journal.  Sunshine State, a Medicaid subsidiary of Centene Corp., provides behavioral health, life and health management, vision and pharmacy benefits, the Business Journal reports.

The incentive package, known as “Project Cardinal”, will go before the Broward Commission Tuesday.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
