Authorities Bust Disabled Couple Over 2 Pot Plants

Just days after a Parrish couple lobbied in Tallahassee for the legalization of medical marijuana, police raided their home and seized two pot plants, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.

Disabled Vietnam veteran Robert Jordan says marijuana is the “medicine” that keeps his wife Cathy alive -- she suffers from Lou Gehrig's disease and is in a wheelchair, the Herald-Tribune reports. 
 

But the chief of pain medicine from the University of Florida takes exception to marijuana being called medicine, the Gainesville Sun reports. Dr. Gary Reisfield recently published an article in the New England Journal of Medicine that offered several reasons for caution..
