Young Doctor Lists His Frustrations

MedPage Today, an online publication for physicians and other health-care professionals, recently asked the question: What frustrates you?

Andrew Buelt, DO, a family medicine resident at HCA-West Florida's Family Care at Bardmoor, a wealthy enclave in Pinellas County, had a lot to say:

Medical education is "dull and ancient," the ability of pharmaceutical companies to manipulate doctors is "repulsive," "meaningful use" is hindering doctor-patient communication instead of helping, and too many patients want a "magic pill" rather than the hard work of getting and staying healthy.
