Scott Sowing Confusion on Medicare: PolitiFact
Gov. Rick Scott has done a very good job of confusing the public, particularly Medicare beneficiaries, about what is happening in the government program for the elderly and disabled and about and how it relates to the Affordable Care Act, PolitiFact says.
Scott has convinced many that Medicare is at risk by making statements that PolitiFact has analyzed and declared either "false" or "mostly false." Scott has blurred the distinctions between the traditional Medicare program and the private, for-profit corporate contractors who run a separate program called Medicare Advantage.
If this feels like deja vu, that's because the fact-checking group reported last month on the veracity of ads that Scott was putting out and pointed out falsehoods. Since then, he has doubled down, denying to reporters that there is anything incorrect in what he is saying.
PolitiFact has helpfully provided a chart listing the differences between traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
