With a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November, there will be a lot of debate about the benefits vs. risks of allowing the sale of marijuana for medical purposes. Gary Stein of Tampa, an advocate,  writes for ContextFlorida.com on how people make decisions about the issue.

Some use their heads, considering the research, and some use their hearts, after hearing pleas from people in pain and their families. And then there are the true believers or hired hands, who have their talking points ready.

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
