A stunning, historic decision

The Supreme Court has upheld the Affordable Care Act, which has opened the floodgates to politicians, pundits and other bloviators who will try to spin it as something it's not.

Pay no attention. That's just politics.

What this ruling means is that millions of Americans will have access to health care who couldn't get it before because the company they worked for didn't offer insurance or they had a health risk that made them uninsurable.

This law, which keeps most health insurance in the private sector, satisfied neither the left or right. The left wanted a 'Medicare for All' single-payer plan, while conservatives wanted -- well, it's hard to say. It's only clear that they didn't want the federal government to have more regulatory power over the industry.

It would be helpful if both sides could accept the decision and move on.

But I'm not holding my breath.
