We're still $15,000 short of having enough donations to gain the $25,000 match, but there's some good news: We have another month to win it.
Clearly, we're going to have to ramp up the fund-raising effort, even though that means time away from journalism. We need to remind the thousands who read our eAlerts and site almost every day -- yes, we know who you are -- that good, solid reporting and editing without spin have a cost.
Originally we had until the end of October to raise the $25,000 from readers to pull down the $25,000 from a foundation. That $50,000 total would be enough to pay for 100 original investigative and breaking news stories next year.
But we have been granted more time.
Don't be a free-rider, hoping others will step up and fill the role that is rightfully yours.
Help keep journalism alive. Here's how to donate.
