As 2013 comes to a close, we're taking some holiday time until Jan. 2. While we won't be updating our site regularly or sending out the daily e-Alert, we'll keep an eye out for important breaking news and post it.

In the meantime, we'd like to hear from you:

  • Your personal stories, whether they're about giving or receiving care or about health business or insurance -- including the just-past Medicare season and the ongoing rollout of Healthcare.gov. We want to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. Email reporter Mary Shedden (shedden@wusf.org).
  • Your feedback on how to best continue our mission of informing Floridians about health issues that affect them. Since our launch in March 2007, we have posted summaries and links to the best stories from other publications each day. But now most of the state's major newspapers have paywalls; that means our readers can't get to the stories we link to. We've tried to compensate by writing longer summaries, but that takes more staff time. That reduces the time available for us to spend on original reporting. So please -- send your suggestions to Editor Carol Gentry, at cgentry@wusf.org.

And happy holidays!

Originally founded in December 2006 as an independent grassroots publication dedicated to coverage of health issues in Florida, Health News Florida was acquired by WUSF Public Media in September 2012.
