A team of scientists in Sarasota has published a new discovery that could be a major breakthrough in Alzheimer’s disease research, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
Researchers at the Roskamp Institute say they may have found a way to disrupt a single enzyme that affects all three of the mechanisms by which a person can develop the disease. The discovery, published online in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, is based on early lab results. But if borne out in human trials, the results could lead to a drug that could successfully treat the disease, the Herald-Tribune reports.
