Earnings at Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida improved in its fiscal third quarter, the South Florida Business Journal reports.
The nonprofit hospital and health care provider reported $165.1 million in earnings for the quarter that ended June 30. That’s up $8.1 million for the same period a year ago, the Business Journal reports.
A $95 million investments gain was named as a key reason for the strong performance, compared to a $21 million investment loss for the same period last year, the Business Journal reports. Its operating performance improved, and the hospitals saw an almost 3 percent jump in patient visits, according to the Business Journal.
