Several Florida safety net hospitals have filed a complaint claiming the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration underpaid them $73.3 million for Medicare patient care over the past 13 years, the Gainesville Sun reports.
The complaints were made to the Department of Administrative Hearings, It challenges a Florida Administrative Code rule that creates a formula to pay hospitals for treating patients who are covered by Mediciad or need charity care, according to the Sun.
The hospitals filing the complaint include: UF Health Shands Hospital, UF Health Jacksonville Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Orlando Health Inc., the South Broward Hospital District and North Broward Hospital, the Sun reports.
