An Ocala judge has denied a name change request of a Florida man who has been having trouble getting cancer treatment because of the glitch, the Ocala Star-Banner reports.
Brent Pillar discovered his mom changed his name when he was 5-years-old, a switch that created trouble for when doctors asked for government-issued photo identification that matched the name on his health insurance, according to the Star-Banner. While he is now getting help from Heart of Florida and Hospice of Marion County and Radiology Associates of Ocala, the judge denied the name change request because of Pillar’s felony criminal history, the Star-Banner reports.
