During a visit to Gainesville’s Malcom Randall VA Medical Center Thursday, the acting secretary confirmed that Florida facilities are included in the ongoing national investigation, the Gainesville Sun reports.
Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs Sloan Gibson said recent audits at North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System facilities have uncovered problems such as handwritten waiting lists for veterans seeking mental health treatment, and other “wrongdoing” involving the scheduling of patient appointments, the Sun reports.
Gibson, who also praised the work of employees at the Gainesville center, said the reviews are not conclusive, and that the investigation is not finished, according to the Sun.
