Leaders of Tallahassee’s branch of the NAACP are questioning the hiring of Leon County’s new public health director, a job that includes a position at Florida State University’s School of Medicine.
The Department of Health and FSU have a unique partnership where the Leon County public health administrator also serves as a member of the university faculty.
The NAACP is upset that these groups recommended Leon County DOH administrator Claudia Blackburn for the position, without real input from the public or the Leon County Commission that ultimately approved the hire, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
The group will hold a town hall Monday about the selection process.
