New data on Veterans Affairs hospital wait times show that its Gainesville facility was among the worst in the nation for new patients.
The 50.8-day average new patient wait time at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center placed the hospital among the top 10, according to the Gainesville Sun. During a six-month period ending March 31, only 20 percent of the 6,603 new patients seeking appointments at Randall VA were able to see a doctor within the target of 14 days, according to the federal data that had been obtained by USA Today.
The Gainesville VA also had a longer new patient wait time when compared to the average at other Florida VA medical centers.
