Dr. Leonard Rubinstein of Sarasota, whose Florida medical license was revoked in 2012 after many years of disciplinary action, has been arrested and charged with six new counts of continuing to practice. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that the latest case started when an undercover Sarasota police officer visited Rubinstein’s office  posing as a potential patient interested in a breast augmentation procedure.

Records show he told her he was unlicensed in the US and offered to perform her procedure in Cancun, without mentioning that his license was revoked by the Florida Board of Medicine in 2011, a decision upheld by appeals courts in 2012.

The new counts were filed once a search of his office uncovered additional patient records. One patient who paid him more than $9,500 never underwent surgery because of Rubinstein’s arrest, but never got his money back, the Herald-Tribune reported.
