Baptist-Jax to Pay $2.5M Settlement

A major hospital system based in Jacksonville has settled federal False Claims Act charges with an agreement to pay $2.5 million, the U.S. Department of Justice announced today.

Subsidiaries of Baptist Health System Inc., parent company for a network of affiliated  hospitals and doctor groups in the Jacksonville metro area, were accused of submitting claims for unnecessary services and drugs to Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program, according to a press release.

There are other hospital systems in Florida that carry the Baptist name, including those based in Pensacola and Miami, but they are not implicated in the case.
