Questionable personal injury protection (PIP) claims dropped last year by 7.7 percent, according to a report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau. The Florida Current reports the group is pointing to a 2012 state law as the reason for the drop. That law prohibits PIP payments to acupuncturist and massage therapists, and puts restrictions on chiropractors. Those involved in crashes now have a cap of $2,500 on non-emergency medical care damages, and have 14 days to seek treatment, the Current reports.
