ALF Guard Charged with Beating Residents

An off-duty security guard has been arrested for beating two residents at the assisted living facility where he worked, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Brian Christopher Murphy reportedly used a tire iron to beat two residents of Atria Evergreen Woods in Spring Hill, the Times reports. The 88-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man, who had facial bones broken during the beating, remain hospitalized.

Hernando County’s Sheriff called the case “beyond brutal,” adding that investigators believe Murphy, 22, was living in his car and under the influence of drugs, the Times reports. He is in jail, charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault.
